Project

'Rota' is a lighting installation comprised of a series of rows and columns of tubes, each with an illuminated slot of light which, when rotated, casts shadows against a homogenous background to create abstract patterns.

Contribution

As part of a small studio project team, I developed the animation and control software which rotates the tubes through various choreographies, based on a number of different mathematical curves, patterns, calculations and algorithms. The resulting affect of the synchronised movement of the tubes creates a subtle, minimalist play of light and shade.
